About Connecticut

    Connecticut started out as land where Native Americans lived. In 1614, Europeans began coming into Connecticut. By the year 1633 they had bought the land from the Pequot Tribe. This new purchased land quickly became a pernament settlement. Soon people began towns, made roads and began trading with close towns. These towns quickly grew because of the rivers that flow threw the land.

    In 1637, problems started between the settlers and the Pequot people. The Pequot wanted the land that the settlers had bought from another tribe the Mohegans. The land was close to rivers and the Pequot were willing to fight for this land. In the end John Mason lead the settlers to victory against the Pequot people.

   Even with their beautiful country side Connecticut is still home to many factories. Manufactioring played a huge part in the way Connecticut was broght up culturally. During the Revolutionary War Connecticut was the main supplier to the Continental Army. Connecticut quickly became the most industrial. By the time factories were opened in Chicago they had already been in Connecticut for a few months.

    Hartford which has been a town since 1639. It was one of the strongest colonies even when it frist started out. Even thought Hartford was one of the first it has lasted threw all the hard times and stay here threw it all. Hartford is the capital city of Connecticut still today, being a strong part of Connecticut in the government and state issues.
